http://www.theflyshop.com/streamreport.htmThe recent rains colored this river up a bit, but it's back in shape up top. Get in before the season closes next week. Mayflies are on the menu, BWO's mainly. Fish will eat salmonfly nymphs such as the venerable Rubberlegs. October Caddis are on the menu! Don't miss out on this spectacle, the largest of the caddisflies, the Great Pumpkin. Emergences are subtle and often missed, but if it is October or November on the McCloud and you see any large, moth-like insects flying about the stream and they aren't bouncing off the surface ovipositing, it's an October Caddis hatch. Fish a pupa pattern under an indicator or swing it. If you're looking to entice them up top, grease up an Orange Stimulator and skate that bad boy through the strike zone! It's a hit!
