2017 Opening Day! Queen of Hearts travelled down the Coast to fish for rockfish just inside the new 50 fathom contour below Pigeon Point. Bomber rockfish like the good ol' days in the newly opened deeper areas...yellowtail, boccaccio, vermillions and a few nice canaries. Today's score: 32 anglers, 320 rockfish, 22 lingcod to 14 pounds. Some salmon were caught outside Half Moon Bay area, too, with reports of a fish here and a fish there, with top boat reporting three keepers, one lost and a few shakers. Weather was actually fairly decent in spite of how it looked from the marine forecast; really had to read between the lines and thankfully guessed correctly.
