Report Date:
http://www.cortezcharters.comThe Fish Cabo Group has just added a 3rd sportfisher, the "TUNA
TIME", a fast, 33' Owens sportfisher, skippered by Captain Mario
Castro, that will accommodate a group of up to 6 passengers. High
boat for the week was the "GAVIOTA IV", skippered by Captain Octavio
Casttillo, reflecting 5 stripers and 5 dorado for 4 days fished.
Overall combined fish counts for the Gaviota Fleet & Fish Cabo Boats,
reporting for a total of 37 days, reflected 24 stripers, (18
released) 21 yellowfin tuna and 49 dorado.
Cabo Climate: Mostly sunny & warm, 63 nights to 93 daytime highs,
joined by strong NW winds whipping around the corner and even closing
the Port this morning.
Cabo Sea Conditions: Rough and unfishable on the Pacific, but
calming off toward the Chileno Bay area and on up the Sea of Cortez,
with temps in the low 60s on the Pacific, rising to 70 at Cabo Falso
to Chileno and rising to 78-80 at Palmilla Point, outside and above
to Frailes.
Best Fishing Area: The 1150 Fathom spot was the best fish production
area this week, not only for the billfish, but also for dorado, too.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was the best and it remained difficult to
get the sleepers and tailers to participate with a bite. Many fish
were being baited by the boats and only a few were biters.
Live Bait Supply: (Live Bait is now fixed at $3.00 per bait &
controlled by the local bait vendors) Supply remains OK through the
full moon & continues with a light mix of mackerel with the caballitos.
