Report Date:
http://www.cortezcharters.comFinally! The sailfish have moved on location and are beginning to
bite. Dorado are starting to move under the buoys. It's starting to
look like it's supposed to when the boats come in, with lots of flags
flying. In talking with Geronimo today, I could notice the
excitement in his voice as he was describing the current fishing
trend for this week, with each day getting better and better and
almost no effect from the full-moon. The area is alive with giant
schools of sardines and the fishing is just explosive from the
inshore to the offshore. Toro are all over and really good snapper
fishing, (the "big boys" in the 25-35 lb ranges) are in the midst of
the sardine schools. Same with the sailfish, which are just 4 miles
offshore and the closest I've ever reported billfish for Mazatlan.
The boats are averaging 4-5 sails per day along with 5-8 dorado,
which is just terrific in comparison to just a week ago. Now that the
big schools of bait have arrived on location, look for some seriously
upbeat fish catching action over the next few weeks and into the summer.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny & warm, temps from 62 nights to 88
daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Excellent, calm conditions, temps from 81 inshore
and rising to 82-83 offshore, with very light surface breezes.
Best Fishing Area: sails at 4 miles from the Marina El Cid entrance.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits, live bait, artificials, all were
working well.
