http://www.friendsofrollo.comHi Folks,
Yesterday was pretty frustrating for Greg, Tom & Billy. They worked hard
all morning getting things ready and finally got all three engines fired up
about 2:45pm.
Shortly thereafter the port engine died due to air in the fuel. We finally
left the dock at 6:15pm and ran up and down San Diego bay for about an hour
and 15 minutes.
Needless to say it was a wonderful feeling to be able to go forward and
backwards. The boat performed well but I am not getting excited yet. The
next test run will be conducted with all three wells, the bait tank and
water tanks full. This run will be the biggest indicator of how successful
this project has been.
Meanwhile, other projects continue; the painting project is still going
strong, Aaron dismantled the fuel centrifuge and it is being overhauled,
Cole is putting chafing gear on all fuel lines, Anthony is sanding and
varnishing the galley entry doors and painters are prepping the deck.
Coast Guard top side inspection is Friday. Getting through the inspection
without any hassles is a big hurdle.
We will start laying the new deck next Saturday and Sunday, which signals
the end of boat work.
Frank
