numbers, but difficult to get them to bite. Early in the week, the
"Fish Cabo" had a 4-striper release day fishing in front of Chileno
and wound up with 8 stripers released for 3 fishing days. The
overall combined fishing report for the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet &
Fish Cabo boats for a total of 40 days reflected 45 stripers, (26
releases) 28 dorado, 1 yellowfin tuna and one roosterfish.
Cabo Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with temps ranging from 68
nights to 93 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: From Golden Gate on the Pacific side to Cabo Falso,
temps at 75. From Cabo Falso and out to the 1000 fathom curve, (95
Fathom, 1150 Fathom & Cabrillo Seamount) and northerly, the temps
rose to 76-78 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: Early in the week was Destilladeras area and as
the week progressed, just outside Chileno Bay area, about 2-3 miles
off the beach.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was a must with very little taken on the
lures.
Live Bait Supply: Mostly mackerel at the $3.00 rate, with a mix of
caballitos.
