Howard Prairie Reservoir Fishing Report

OR Department of Fish & Wildlife Staff

Howard Prairie water levels remain high with the lake still at 77 percent capacity. Dropping water temperatures should mean good things for trout anglers at Howard. Anglers should be aware, however that fingerling trout will be stocked in October. Care must be taken to release these undersized fish unharmed.

Many of the trout show evidence of copepods or copepod scars. This is a natural parasite that lives on the outside of the fish and can simply be scraped off prior to cooking.
