https://www.intrepid.netHi Gang,
Today started out the way you dream about on these long trips. Small tuna and skipjack around the boat in the dark and the guys started using them for bait. Five to seven pound baits, unlimited 130 lb gear, 300 lb leader material, and a 10/0 forged hook. The first fish landed this morning was a 170 pound class yellowfin. The next one taped out right at 200 pounds. We landed 11 fish by first light that were 170 to 225 pounds, most of these were caught using live skipjack and small tuna for bait. What a way to start the day! After our morning shot, it was very steady action on 120 to 200 pound tuna. We had at least one fish hooked all day long with as many as 7 or 8 going at any given time. It was a huge day. The last fish landed today, after sunset, was a 205 caught by Fred Knilans fishing a sinker rig. We had an absolute blast today. Our weather was good, our bait is living exceptionally well, and our chefs prepared an incredible dinner tonight of braised short ribs, mashed potatoes, and green beans with homemade apple pie and ice cream for dessert. We have high hopes for tomorrow. Wish us luck, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
