http://www.dfw.state.or.usFishing on Nehalem bay has been slow, as most fish headed up river following the last freshet. There should still be fresh fish coming in, however, and trolling herring or spinners can be effective techniques.
Fall Chinook should be throughout the system on the Nehalem River, and fishing should pick up as river levels drops. Bobber fishing bait, back-bouncing, back-trolling plugs or divers and bait, or casting spinners can all be effective methods for Chinook.
The North Fork Nehalem has been slow recently and hatchery coho numbers are down so far this year. That said, there should be some fish around. Bobber fishing or drift fishing bait, throwing spinners, twitching jigs are all good techniques.
Anglers are reminded that there is NO wild coho retention in the rivers and bays this year, and that two rods are prohibited on all coastal rivers, tidewater, estuaries and bays.
