1.5 Day Bluefin Trip

Hi Gang,

We started out the morning with a beautiful sunrise and a calm ocean. Although I was seeing good fish on the meter and the sonar, we did not hook any fish at first light. The first fish was hooked at about 0800 and landed by my good friend Brandon Hayward, a 50 pound bluefin tuna. From there, it was steady action on 40 to 60 pound bluefin tuna. The best technique today was 40# fluorocarbon and a #2/0 or #3/0 circle hook with a flylined sardine. The kite got bit today as well and we almost went through an entire kite rotation. I cannot say enough about how much fun this fishing was today. Steady bites on good grade bluefin tuna that were spiked, bled, and submersed straight into our 29 degree RSW well. A great group of fisherman that worked hard and had a good time fishing together. We had US limits of bluefin tuna on the boat by early afternoon. Perfect. Our jackpot today was landed by our good friend John Keeler with a 72.6 pound bluefin tuna. We enjoyed a nice ride home and our chefs prepared an incredible prime rib dinner. A perfect way to end a great day on the water. We are out again tonight on another 1.5 day trip that has openings. We depart at 8pm if you want to join us. You can book online right here on our website. Hope to see you onboard, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4088 to get in on the action.
