The bass population has been scattered throughout the water column anywhere from 10' to 40'plus. Most bottom bouncing techniques have been working for the deeper fish, while the ones holding shallow have been biting flukes, small swimbaits, and ripbaits. Brad Sheperd of El Cajon caught and released a pair of nice blue catfish that went 32 Ibs, and 19113s. on cut mackerel. Sheperd was tight lipped about the location, but said the pair came out of 50' water. A handful of smaller bluegill came out of the Barona arm, and pockets along the southern shoreline on split shotted worms.
Report Date:
Not much changed here last week, there are still silversides all over the bank in most areas of the lake. Look for egrets, and grebes for locations of feeding fish. Flukes, rip baits, small swimbaits all have been getting bit. The worm bite is still very slow at this time. No panfish or catfish were reported last week. ......
