Most of the attention is centered outside of the Golden Gate for the outstanding salmon fishing season opener. But those still fishing the bay waters they are finding exceptional fishing for striped bass and halibut on the drift with live anchovies off the rock piles and the flats off Berkeley and Angel Island. The stripers have been averaging 5 to 12 pounds and the halibut from 10 to 37 pounds. In the mix some quality white sea bass hitting the decks while on the drift to 27 pounds. This next week the tidal action will be much slower which should enhance the fishing.
