http://www.ndow.orgThis Throwback Thursday we take a look at a study done by NDOW fisheries biologists comparing the affect of spearfishing on a fishery to hook and line fishing back in 1971. It was determined that spearfishing would probably have a greater impact on the fishery than hook and line especially during spawning seasons. Currently, in Nevada, spearfishing is allowed only on unprotected fish (like carp) and for stripers on Lake Mead and portions of Lake Mohave. No spearfishing of any kind is allowed on California shared waters Lake Tahoe and Topaz Lake. Make sure to read the regulations before fishing any water.
