DWP is dropping the lake fast still. Expect this to continue for the immediate future. The stable weather has given me one of the best Octobers on Crowley in recent memory.
Well the fleet found out about my spot on the east side of the north arm across from green banks, and these fish have scattered. Some days it's ok over there, others not so much. Most of the fish have departed Layton, and I'm starting to see more fish over on the six bays side. I'd say to start there instead.
Every day has been different when it comes to flies. Some days the wind doesn't come up at all and there is a great hatch, other days the wind comes up a little bit and the fish stop keying on the pupa and go back to chomping on larva. I think they're just about done with perch fry patterns for now, and I've switched to leeches for the most part. Purple, red and black have all been working most days.
This will be my last Crowley report for the season. I'll be out there for the next few days, but then I'm headed over to the Sacramento Delta for a bit of striped bass fishing before it gets too cold.
