Justin Fleck docked Excel at Fisherman's Landing after a five-day charter with 32 anglers. He said his biggest fish came from Guadalupe Island.

"We had a big hit on yellowtail there," he noted.

A sardine provided Bob Fletcher of San Diego with what he needed to attract the best fish of the trip, a 40.6-pound yellowtail. Bob pinned his 'dine on a 4/0 Mustad hook tied to 40-pound P-Line on a Torium 30 reel and a Calstar 800 M rod. He said the big mossback fought hard for 15 minutes.

Mike Baron of Riverside won second place for a 36.3-pound yellowfin tuna. Lee Hunter of New Madrid took third place for his 34.2-pound yellowtail.
