The Trask River is mostly a wild steelhead River, although it is known to get some hatchery strays. As such, it really hits its peak for steelhead fishing now through early April. Fishing was moderately good late last week and early in the weekend (mostly catch and release wild fish), but slowed as the River Dropped. Predictions show some weather coming in the next couple days which will likely have the Trask high and off color for the weekend, but it should drop back into prime shape by the middle of next week. All the usual techniques are working, with the higher flows and some color stick to the larger, brighter presentations.
