Fishing has been on the upswing, as a lot of bass have moved up tight to the bank as of late. Flipping, and small swimbaits have been working for the shallow fish, and there is still a solid drop shot bite in 40’ to 50’ of water. There were a few crappie and red ear reported as well, but as usual, anglers were not willing to disclose any info on the panfish.

This past week was pretty much day to day, but overall action was the same as the previous week. Bass have been scattered from 10’ to 60’ deep off main lake points. Drop shooting made for most catches, although Charles Hoofnagle of Lexington, VA caught a 6.6 lb largemouth on a square bill off a rental boat this past Thursday. ......

Cooling water temps, and recent low pressure have made for a tough bass bite. There are still fish scattered through the water column, but the majority seem to be suspended at around 40 to 60 feet of water.
