Current reservoir storage is at 26 percent of capacity and increasing. The reservoir is now in the transition period from ice-cover to open water. There is open water around the reservoir perimeter. Ice fishing is no longer feasible or safe. Approximately 4,700 legal-size rainbow trout have been recently stocked.
Fishing through the ice was very good over the winter for both rainbow trout and yellow perch. Holdovers from the trophy rainbows stocked last year should be available when the ice thaws. Anglers usually have good success catching these in the upper reservoir just after ice-out.
Construction of the new boat launch surface at the Mason Dam Boat Launch is now complete and the launch has re-opened to public access. Boaters will find much improved conditions for launching boats.
