Little Truckee River Fishing Report

Truckee River Outfitters

Report Date:

Flows have remained at 78 CFS for a week or so now. This is great news for fly fishing. With higher flows than normal it gives the fish a chance to really roam in and out of Boca Reservoir into the Little Truckee. This is the time of year that the Brown Trout start to move upstream. There has been a Baetis hatch mid-day and fish can be caught with either dries or wet flies. Blue Wing Olive Duns fished on the surface with 6X tippet is one way or nymphing with a dry dropper set up and a size 18 Baetis nymph on 6X tippet is another. There has also been a small midge hatch in the evenings.
