http://www.thetroutfitter.com/fshreport.htmlWater Conditions: Good
The water is clear and cold with snow now in the mountains. Most of the river is still fishing great. Many of the deep holes have become small and most of the fish are tucking themselves under the branches along side the river. Water temps are in the 50's.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: GoodSome big fish are being taken in the Interpretive Center area stripping streamers and nymphing. The canyon is tough due to low water and weeds. Not much of a hatch except warmer days.
Recommended Flies:Strip black wooley buggers size 12 or try a two nymph rig with prince nymph size 16 or 18 PT, 18-20 black olive, hares ears size 20 or 22. Anything small and olive is the key with water flows low and the weeds high and your drift has to be right on.
Guide's Hint: With the weeds up and the water down, getting a good drift becomes more difficult. Stop and analyze your drift BEFORE making it. Accuracy of where you place the fly is important right now so that you can drift the channels between the weeds. Keep your drifts on the short side and try to minimize slack line on the water. Every drift is unique, however, keeping more line off of the water is generally helpful in getting a better dead drift.
