Channel Islands Sportfishing

Report Date:

Today’s Fish Count: 8 Boats and 175 Anglers.

626 Rockfish, 717 Whitefish, 18 Sheephead, 7 Sculpin, 16 Lingcod, 1 Bonito, 18 Perch, 87 Calico Bass, and 19 Yellowtail.

Lately, the weather has been perfect for fishing big Yellows at the islands. Most of the boats are keeping it shallow, targeting Yellowtail, Bass, and other surface species. Even when they go bottom fishing it’s not deep. This is why the Whitefish numbers are often higher than the Rockfish. Productivity is high, and chances of hooking a brute are likely. Don't shy away from bringing your 40# sticks!
