http://www.sportfishingreport.comI jumped on board the Ranger 85 out of Channel Islands Sportfishing for an overnight trip fishing San Miguel for a freezer filler before the season ends. We fished the West End of San Miguel for some quality Reds, Olives, Blues, and other mixed ground fish. We made quick and easy limits before setting down the anchor for a steady pick at the San Miguel Whitefish. Captain Frank Ursitti and Crew did a great job as we enjoyed a fine day of fishing.
As a bonus, we even had the chance to experience some Ranger 85 Whale Watching! We were pulling the anchor and calling it a day when three giant Humpback Whales came right up to the boat to check us out. They hung out with us for at least fifteen minutes as we admired their beauty. Captain Frank immediately swapped hats and began educating us on the Humpback's behavior and facts over the microphone. It was an incredible day and I especially enjoyed seeing a side of the Ranger 85 that I don't usually get to see, whale watching. Captain Frank and Crew were very impressive. They run Whale Watching trips for schools and for the public during the winter time. This is a great opportunity to educate people of all ages while experiencing a memorable journey on the water.
