Things looked to slow a bit after Thanksgiving, when the fleet returned to the banks off southern Baja. The cow-sized tuna weren't chewing like they were before. They were still showing on the flat screens in the wheelhouses, but just a couple of cows bit during the first few days of fishing after the holiday.
All that has changed again, and a new wave of cows seems to be on the bite. It looks right now like at least four or five tuna over 300 pounds are on board various boats, and the bite is back on, with fish from 100 pounds up coming to just about everyone. The first boat due back is the Royal Polaris, scheduled to arrive at Fisherman's Landing tomorrow, Saturday morning. Here are the most recent reports from the fleet:
