The Dockside fleet is out again on an incredible ocean. Very little swell and not much wind. The only thing to remind us it is autumn is a rather cool east wind. We have boats out in both the nearshore and out plumbing the depths for the deep water Lings.
Yesterday the nearshore boats had to work hard for their fish but those that kept the gear in the water and worked it did well. Crabbing wasn't as good as it has been for the last week but it was still worthwhile.
The Halibut boats did well. It was indeed a fishing free for all, you could keep anything but Yellow Eye, Not everyone got two Halibut but there were limit catches of Rockfish and varieties of fish not found inshore. Another great (but long)day on the water.
As for the marine forecast it is variable for the next few days. Sunday is building a bit, more wind and swell, back down Monday and Tuesday then things blow apart Wednesday with wind and a pretty major swell. Remember that is a forecast and is changeable this time of the year.
Remember that Dockside closes the first of November for six weeks. That gives us time to maintain the boats, the captains and crews and the office staff as well. It has been a productive year but it is time for a little break.
Make your reservation now so you don't miss out. Remember, Dockside does not overcrowd the boats, that means more room to fish of course, providing you with a premium trip. Online reservations are an option also, you can make a reservation on a space available basis even the day before the trip. Don't miss out.
Running 5-hour bottom Fishing and crabbing and 1 and 2-hour Whale Watching Trips daily, weather permitting.
