LAKE MEAD —Silver and green colored jerkbaits are fooling stripers around Kingman Wash and along drop-offs by the water in-take. Anglers are having a hard time finding shad near Government Wash but are finding success with anchovies fished off the bottom. Largemouth bass are still hard to find, but fishing should pick up when water temperatures increase.
LAKE MOHAVE — Crankbaits and plastics have been working for smallmouth bass at the south end of the lake. Look for bass hanging around boulder fields, off points and near habitat structures in well-developed coves. Striped bass have been showing up south of Willow Beach with anglers having success with trout imitations and anchovies.
LAUGHLIN — Stocked rainbow trout are schooling up below Davis Dam and through Casino Row. The fish are biting on PowerBait, night crawlers, and spinners. Boaters and shore anglers are both catching fish. Anglers are reporting that stripers are biting on soft plastics and trout swimbaits below Davis Dam. With temperatures in the mid- high- 60’s largemouth bass should grow increasingly active in the vegetation near shore.
LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS – The Nevada Department of Wildlife recently stocked trout in the ponds at Sunset, Lorenzi, and Veterans Memorial parks. Trout are taking PowerBait, small spinning lures and spoons. Silver varieties of lures are working the best. With temperatures beginning to warm up, catfish are becoming more active and have hit worms and stink baits.
KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA – Ice cover has thawed significantly on area reservoirs. However, anglers may need to break ice to fish in shallow areas. Trout are hitting on olive emerger fly patterns, Rooster Tails, and rainbow PowerBait. Cold temperatures will keep bass on the less active end of things.
EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR – Rain is expected for this coming weekend. Ice is thawing rapidly and too thin for ice fishing. Holes for fishing can be drilled along the dock along the dock.
ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR – Ice has completely thawed. Rainbow trout are taking worms and rainbow PowerBait.
