Winter steelhead continues to be solid on the Siletz, not red hot but consistently producing fish over the last week. The river is dropping and clearing each day creating tougher conditions but should still provide good opportunity through this week and into the weekend.

Another shot of rain is forecasted for the weekend and might stir things up a bit and get the fishing moving around. Anglers are catching fish throughout the system from the upper bank reaches down to the lowest drift boat sections.

There has been a good mix of hatchery and wild fish being caught for both the bank and boat anglers.

Anglers are reminded to keep wild fish in the water and release immediately after landing to minimize negative impacts to these fish.  Winter steelhead typically start to show up in December and peak January through March.

The 4.0 mile bridge (aka Steel Bridge) in the Siletz gorge is open to motorized vehicles, but is only open to public vehicles on the weekend. Anglers can walk/bike in the road during the weekdays. If anglers do walk in they can park at the one mile gate and start from there.
