Winter steelhead has been fair to good on the Siletz River. The river is low and clear making things a little tougher now but it continues to produce fish every day. The rain over the weekend bumped the river a few inches but did not seem to move too many fish around. Expect more of the same this week and into the weekend as the dry pattern continues.

More rain is in the forecast for next week and that might get things stirred up as we head into March. Both boat and bank anglers are catching fish throughout the system from the lower river to the upper bank portions of the gorge.

Anglers are reminded to keep wild fish in the water and release immediately after landing to minimize negative impacts to these fish.  Winter steelhead typically start to show up in December and peak January through March.

The 4.0 mile bridge (aka Steel Bridge) in the Siletz gorge is open to motorized vehicles, but is only open to public vehicles on the weekend. Anglers can walk/bike in the road during the weekdays. If anglers do walk in they can park at the one mile gate and start from there.
