The marlin madness continues at the Golden Gate Bank and as long as
the feed biomass, (mackerel) and the water temps continue to hold up,
there should be little change with the bite. Top boat for a single
fishing day was the "Fish Cabo", skippered by Captain Gil Marquez,
reflecting 9 stripers released. Top boat for the week was the
"Gaviota VIII", with Captain Juan Dominguez, reflecting 20 stripers,
(18 released) for six fishing days. Overall combined fish counts for
the two fleets for a total of 44 days fished reflected 106 stripers,
(92 released) 4 yellowfin tuna, 3 roosterfish and 47 dorado.
Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days through the week with temps ranging
from 60 nights to 82 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Remains good, temps holding 74-75 on the Pacific
side and slowly rising to 76-77 at the Gorda Banks.
Best Fishing Area: Continues to be the Golden Gate Bank for the
billfish.
Best Lure/Bait: Mackerel is the hot bait for the billfish
Live Bait Supply: Excellent, with both, mackerel and caballitos and
replenishment of the mackerel at the Golden Gate Bank.

The full moon had taken it's toll this past week at Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo and according to Captain Temo Verboonen, the fish bit less and less through the full moon days. "We can see sailfish jumping all over, but they seemed to just ignore the baits". Good, quality-sized dorado are biting at about 15 miles offshore, just to the outside of the billfish area.
