In the past couple of days they dropped the Crooked again from 260 cfs down to about 160 cfs making it a little lower than we prefer this time of year. Regardless the fishing has been consistent through the change and our guides and customers are finding fish on caddis dries as well as the classic nymph rigs and euro style bugs. The sun is gonna be out and temperatures are forecasted into the 80’s all week so bring plenty of water and sunscreen cause it gets hot down in that canyon. Be looking for PMD’s, PED’s and caddis in the heat of the afternoons and through the evenings. The Mother’s day Caddis hatch is a good bet and can be quite the spectacle when you find yourself on the river for one. We like fishing a tan or brown caddis with a green butt in sizes 16 and 14 along with a tan pupa swung underneath the dry. A little side note; the rainbows should all be just about done spawning but be very careful when wading and avoid any and all spots with “pea” gravel just to be safe!
