Members of the public are invited to participate in the meeting using the toll-free phone number and to watch presentations via the GoToMeeting webinar, or may join staff at one of the offices listed above. In addition, the meeting is being simultaneously webcast for viewing only; see the MLPA website (www.dfg.ca.gov/mlpa/meetings_sc.asp) for more information.

Public parking is available at no charge at the above locations except for the Marine Science Research Building and the Resources Building.

(1) The Marine Science Research Building is most easily accessed via bus from downtown Santa Barbara or Goleta by taking the UCSB express; directions and bus stop times are available at http://www.sbmtd.gov/Lines/Line_24x.htm. Alternatively, UCSB campus visitor parking passes can be requested by contacting Satie Airame at airame@msi.ucsb.edu.

(2) The Resources Building is most easily accessed via the Light Rail Blue and Gold lines (http://www.sacrt.com/systemmap/central.stm). Parking in downtown Sacramento is via a city garage or metered street parking; members of the public can be reimbursed by staff at the building for any parking fees.

Public Participation: The public will be invited by the co-chairs to offer comments on agenda action items. General comments on the work of the MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT), not directed to specific agenda items, will be taken after lunch at approximately 1:00 p.m. Note that the general public comment period is for comments specific to the SAT; comments related to the regional stakeholder group, Blue Ribbon Task Force or other MLPA Initiative activities should be directed to those bodies or MLPA staff. Meeting materials will not be provided at the meeting but will be posted to the MLPA website as soon as they are available. This agenda may be found on the MLPA website at. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mlpa/meetings_sc.asp.

Meeting Objectives

*Discuss and potentially approve the MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT) response to the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF) request regarding U.S. Department of Defense "military use areas"
* Review, discuss and potentially approve marine protected area (MPA) design guidelines and evaluation methods for the MLPA South Coast Study Region
* Review, discuss and potentially approve the list of species likely to benefit from MPAs
* Review and potentially approve SAT responses to questions from the MLPA South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (SCRSG)
