Probably our most consistent fishery this summer. The quality of fish this year has been outstanding and it is only getting better as the summer goes on. We have transitioned to shallower water now and the weed lines are well defined. You will find large rainbows, browns, and cutthroat trout cruising these weed lines in search of small perch fry, callibaetis nymphs, and damsels. The mud line is also well defined against the weeds, so midges are also fair game. When the wind comes up the fishing gets really good with assassins, perch fry, and damselfly nymphs.
You still have to locate the fish, as they are moving day to day. Some days you will find them flooding a specific area on the lake or depth. The next day they may be in a completely new area. I have witnessed some massive damselfly migrations this month, and when the fish are on these bugs, our light assassins are getting them to bite. The callibaetis mayflies are also hatching daily and you will see the fish along the weed edges and inside the weeds feeding on them.
