The blue water is very close to the entrance of Zihuatanejo Bay and
the fishing begins at about 6 miles out. According to Captain Temo
Verboonen, skipper of the "Secuestro De Amor", there has been good
action for both, marlin and sailfish, with plenty of strikes each
day. A surge in the wahoo bite this week added to the overall
catches, along with dorado still providing good action, too. The
inshore is still alive with jack cravelle and the light tackle
angling for those critters has been exceptional with a good bite on
the top water pencil poppers.
IZ Climate: Sunny and clear days, wonderfully warm, temps from 71
nights to 90 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Inshore temps at 76 and climbing to 78 at about 6
miles and jumping upward again to 80-81 at 20 miles.
Best Fishing Area: The offshore good bite area began at about 6
miles from the mouth of the Bay, about a mile into the clean, blue
water.
Best Bait/Lure: Slow trolled mackerel from the downriggers was most
productive for the offshore fishing and live bait and pencil poppers
were best for the inshore light tackle, fishing for the jack cravelle.
