Bottom fish and Crabbing
Both Monday and Tuesday presented pretty much the same results so will combine the report today. Both days produced good catches of fish if you were fishing in the mid-water spots (90-150 feet approximately) and also the inside spots which are normally inside 80-feet of water.
The only difference was the type of fish to be caught. The inside produced mostly Black rockfish with a decent assortment of Cabezon and a few Lingcod. On the mid-water stuff the Canary rockfish were really on the bite both days along with a few Lingcod and then on some days really good Lingcod catches. In the summer months especially the deeper you go the better the chance of Lingcod catches.
One of the issues with the deeper water now is that you can’t keep any China rockfish, Copper rockfish or Quilback rockfish which you basically see in the deeper waters. Crabbing remains excellent on all of the boats every day.
Tuna
Still no good words as of yet about Tuna trips as the water right now is so cold on the inside that it takes longer to get out to where there is some warmer water and the proper conditions on top of that. Hopefully with the great weather we will be having the next seven days on the inside the water will start to warm up and we can get some Tuna boats out there.
