We have been saying it for over a month now, but we will continue to say it – We have big fish!!!
CDFW still has not, and my understanding is that they will not, stock the rest of the season. Fishing has been an absolute grind here at Silver Lake over the past month because of this lack of stocking by the state, the heat of summer and the number of people that are here fishing, but some have been paid off for their perseverance and patience by landing a nice beautiful Desert Spring Rainbow or even luckier if you get to land a native brown. This past Monday we dumped in a load of Desert Springs Fish from Oregon in the amount of 400 pounds and 104 fish with an average weight of 3.8 pounds and we have been seeing those beauties come in. Just about everyday we are seeing a few of these rainbows roll across our scales here at Silver Lake. While we understand everyone wants to catch fish, it takes a far greater effort on the fishermen part this summer. We are planning on continuing to purchase from Desert Springs about every three weeks or so throughout the summer, so we will continue to do our best to try to help with the shortfall of fish left by the state. We had some great fish, both Rainbows and Browns roll across our scales this week with the Monster 11 pound 12 oz Brown and a 6 pound 5 oz Brown coming in on the same day (Saturday) and some nice Rainbows with the bigger guys tipping the scales at about 5 pounds.
Night Crawlers, Pinch Crawlers, Mice Tails and Power Baits seem to be the most consistent types of baits that are working on the lake. The water temperature is warm so those fish are working down deeper in the water – looking to stay cooler. When you are setting up your rig, take it to the bottom of the lake and bring it back up 4 to 5 feet to find the top of the weed line where those beauties are hanging out and you should have some success.
In everything this season – Keep the Faith and good things will happen!!!
Please keep in mind, every business in the June Lake Loop and the entire Eastern Sierra is thankful and excited to have you come visit us and enjoy the beauty of our area, but we continue to ask you as our guests to help us keep our beautiful area clean and pristine. Please help us by picking up your trash and disposing of it in the proper place. We have several trash cans around Silver Lake Resort and we are happy to pay to have your trash disposed of so that it is not left along the shore or in dispersed camping areas. We greatly appreciate it!!!
Slow Down, Smile, Enjoy!!! It Will All Get Better Soon!!!
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!
