This weekend will mark a special "Juniors only" wild turkey hunting period for Mar. 21 and 22 only. The general season opener will take place next week, on Saturday Mar. 28, and runs until May 3.
A valid California hunting license with an Upland Game Bird stamp is required for adult turkey hunters, but Juniors are exempt from the Upland stamp requirement. The spring season bag limit is one bearded turkey per day, and three per season.

Irvine Lake 15-14 trophy rainbow is top trout; bass bite goes "full throttle" Steady trout action topped by a nice 15-14 rainbow was on tap at Irvine Lake, reported Jimmy Getty at the Pro Shop. "Everyone who used lighter 2 and 4-pound line did well on trout, but those who stubbornly stuck to heavy line caught very little", observed Getty.
