Water Conditions: Good
Flows are at 62 cfs as of 8/20
HEADS UP: The water temperatures below the Hot Creek confluences is getting into the low 70's in the afternoon
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Fair-Good
It's getting a little less crowded but still busy. Look for the open gates and talk to the people that are already out there. The Trico emergence is starting to become a little spread out so if you're looking to fish this hatch be ready to wander. If you get out there early the female Trico emergence is getting a little later, around 8 with the spinner fall 9-10. It's already happening, the fish are getting wise to hopper patterns so presentation and timing can be critical, don't be afraid to throw double hoppers and try drowning the bottom one. The Hopper action is getting more sporadic, good one day slow the next. The Caddis are becoming more and more prevalent throughout the day with some good surface action in the first hours of light. PMDs are still hanging in there. Hoppers and PMDs start around 10:30, PMDs are done around noon with the Hopper action running until mid to late afternoon.
