Hello everyone; After unloading our catch from last trip, putting on supplies, it was time to make that move. With a new charter group, a good load of bait, we are headed offshore. With good reports from the boats out west, we are looking forward to some great action.
After Roy gave a quick seminar, the crew went to work getting everyone ready for battle. The afternoon started out with a kelp holding some small Yellowtail.
This would be a good start, getting everyone ready on how to stay in touch with their bait, flowing their fish, and trying to stay out of tangles. After a few stops on the kelp, everyone is ready. We made it to the Bluefin grounds around 15:00 hours, and it didn’t take long for us to get our first chance. We had two hook-ups. Both anglers were using a 6oz sinker rig to get bit.
Both on 80 pound test, and yes their first chance at catching a Bluefin. After a short battle, both fish were landed. Both Bluefin were in the 60 pound category. Since the weather was a bit chilly, there was no R/p shower, but the first tuna heart tradition continues.
After dinner, we made the move more to the west. We will be starting early in the morning, so wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our daily events. Team R/p.
