Flows have been on the decline, and I've been running trips down there since the flows touched 300cfs last Tuesday. I've been doing well, but I've heard others haven't fared as well. Can't say that we caught anything on the surface on any of the trips I've run. Mostly running the bobber setup, and euro nymphing. Fished the canyon section below the dam, and down lower with good results. Don't bother getting here super early, things don't get going til around 9 anyway. Trico spinners are falling in the water around 9:30-10 with mayflies hatching all morning til about 1 in the afternoon. Didn't stick around much later than that. Saw some Caddis fluttering around but the fish didn't seem very interested in them. Finding fish in all types of water. Riffels, deep pools, tailouts, didn't matter at all. I'm sure this will all change with added fishing pressure in the coming weeks.
