Just wanted to let everyone know that the Channel Islands Seabass bite has taken off today.

Our day started with a departure @ 5:00am with a tank of sardines from Capt Hooks and our plans were to fish halibut in the morning and check conditions for seabass later in the day on the tide change.

Crystal clear water nice current and perfect weather conditions. After a few drifts we located a small area of halibut. We hooked two nice fish but the hook pulled on one and broke the light line on the other. As the weather heated up. My thoughts were to check the seabass areas and within 15 min. we came up on several schools of fish and some bit and some didn't.

Nothing big but the fish ate everything. We got bit on the fishtrap swimbait in the calico color and on sardines in various rig types that anyone can get at Eric's Tackle. The bass bite is starting to take off also. Lots of calico bass on the flyined sardines and swimbaits.

The fish avg from shorts to one over 15 lbs. We kept a small 29" fish because it got gill hooked. Fun fishing for all.

Looking forward to tomorrows trip.
