http://www.sportfishingreport.comWe had a great time on our SFR charter on the MIRAGE even though the weather report was not on our side. We were greeted by Capt's Tucker and Lou, along with Miguel and Dan on the deck and the ever famous "Pineapple" Joe in the galley. Capt Tucker let us know the plans for the next day and said it would be a bumpy ride to the islands, which was no understatement. We woke up behind Santa Cruz Island and Capt Tucker said that there was no way we could get to Santa Rosa as the winds where blowing at 35 - 40 knots over there, so we decided to stay in the area and see what we could find. With howling winds and pretty rough sea's Capt's Tucker and Lou did an exellent job getting us over fish. It was hard to keep on the bottom with the very quick drifts due to the high winds, but when you got down the fish were very willing to bite. The winds calmed for a couple hours in the the late morning and early afternoon, so we anchored in shallow water and managed to pick up some white fish and a couple sheephead. When the winds started picking up again we headed back out to deeper water for more chuckleheads and reds. It was a good day on the water with great company.
Don't forget that the MIRAGE is now at CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTFISHING and have a full tackle shop for all your needs before you head out on the water. If you would like any of the pictures you can email me at john@sportfishingreport.com and I will forward them to you.
