Inaccessible due to snow unless you have a snowmobile or snow machine. Water temperatures are approaching freezing. Fourmile Lake was stocked in late summer with monster hatchery trout. Fishing will be slow for 18- to 20-inch trophy trout, stocked rainbow trout with the occasional brook trout or lake trout.
Look for brook and lake trout cruising the shoreline looking for a place to spawn especially in the northwest corner of the lake. Trophy rainbow trout are massive this year averaging four pounds and they also taste great.
There is ample room for fishing from the bank and many areas for camping. Also, be prepared for the afternoon wind coming off Mt. Mcloughlin that makes fishing difficult from a boat.
The lake is very low at 10 percent full, based on the 15,600 acre feet taken out for irrigation. The lake is very clear and oligotrophic.
