The River is at its regular winter flows right now which is about 20 cfs. The weather has been pretty mild for this time of the year and the EW has been fishing pretty well lately. There’s lots of nice fish in the 12 to 18 inch range being caught with a few being reported in the 20 to 24 inch range as well. Nymphing seems to be the best method though there has been some fish being caught on dries. The traffic is pretty light this time of the year so even though there’s not as much water to fish as in the summer there’s not too many anglers to compete with. Patterns to try include: flashback emerger, top secret midge, WD-40, radiation baetis, dark lord, San Juan worm, squirmy wormy, perdigon nymph.

 

We haven’t had much traffic to speak of on the ranch lately but the Rosachi section of the EW has been fishing well so that would indicate the private section is probably fishing well also. We’re starting to get some bookings for later in the season but not too much going on right now, if you want to book some time on the ranch give us a call!

We haven’t heard anything from the West lately, typically it’s pretty tough this time of the year but when the weather starts to warm up again things should pick up up there.

Not too much snow so far around here, unfortunately we’re at only about 40% of normal, hopefully we’ll get some good snow before too long. Topaz Lake opened up on Jan. 1, haven’t heard any reports from up there yet but at least there’s a lake in the neighborhood to wet a line!!
