The following reflects the fewest charter fishing days I have ever
reported for from Cabo San Lucas, over the past 20-plus years or so.
The flu scare has literally emptied the town and still, not a single
flu report from the lower Baja. The overall report for a total of
11 combined fishing days reflected 8 stripers, all released, 1
yellowfin tuna and 15 dorado, with all fish taken easterly from Cabo
San Lucas. The billfish are showing but not biting, adding to the
overall frustration of the anglers and crew. While you might have a
few opportunities to bait a sleeper or tailer, they just ignore the
baits and either sink out or just keep on traveling to the direction
of the swell.
Cabo Climate: It's awesome! Temps from 69 nights to 96 daytime
highs and mostly sunny days.
Sea Conditions: Generally flat calm on the Sea of Cortez side.
Temps on the Pacific at 70 and changing from Cabo to Gorda Banks on a
slow rise from 76 to 79.
Best Fishing Area: No real concentration of fish and the boats are
trolling and traveling over wide areas in an arc from southeast of
Cabo and around to the north east of Cabo.
Best Lure/Bait: While a few boats report fish taken on lures, the
better bait has been the live caballito, both for the billfish and
the dorado.
Live Bait Supply: Remains very good.
