North County Crewman, Angler Lloyd Powers Passes

Lloyd Powers died April 26 in Los Angeles. He was 60 and had a sudden heart problem about 2:30 that morning. Born in April 7, 1949, Lloyd was well-known in the Oceanside area as an angler and a deckhand who worked aboard the Electra, Sea Adventure, Laura J and the Sea Trek.

Powers attended Belmont High School in LA. He was the owner of LP Rods and for years wrapped rods with Captain P-Bod. His favorite fish were wahoo and tuna. Lloyd will be remembered by many local anglers for his kindness and good nature, and his willingness to help new anglers learn the ropes. .

Lloyd Powers is survived by his son Boo Powers, Wendy Powers (daughter-in-law), Janeen Powers (Daughter), Manuel Rendon (Son-in-law) and Rosemary Powers (mother of his children). Other surviving family members include grandchildren Kailoa Powers, Bradley Powers, Brent Kilgore, Olivia Kilgore, Ethan Kilgore, Leilani Power and Oceana Powers. He is also survived by Michelle Noonberg (Sister), Melody Cascade (Sister),, Lillian Avery (Aunt), Mark Avery (cousin), Jason Price (Nephew) and Steve Price (Nephew). .

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6.
