Water Conditions: Fair, showing 7 cfs as of 4/22
Fishing Conditions and Hatches:Great
Its all about the mayflies! With the great weather, the fishing has picked up along with the crowds. Pretty good mayfly hatch around the mid-morning time. Anything from tiny little tricos to big BWO(blue wing olive). The dry fly fishing can be good depending on the time of the hatch. Right now nymphing is the perferred method. Make sure to use some small split shot to get your flies down to where the fish are. Water clarity is super clear and enough water in the system where your not constanly cleaning your fly.
It will be crowded because of opener being this Saturday. Please be mindful of other anglers. There are plenty of spots to fish on Hot Creek. Look for deep runs, back eddys, and bucket holes. The fish are in there and they're hungry. Spend some time trying to match the hatch, even if it takes flipping over a few rocks:) It will pay off. Happy Fishmas!!! -Troutfitter Crew
