Water Conditions: Fair, showing 15 cfs as of 5/6
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good-Very Good
With the great weather the fishing has picked up, along with the crowds. Remember when I said there were lots of scuds, well now they're eating them. Pretty good mayfly hatch around the mid-morning time. Anything from tiny little Tricos (8-10 am) to big BWO (blue wing olive)11-1. Yes Tricos, only 3 months early. The dry fly fishing can be good depending on the time of the hatch. Right now nymphing is the preferred method. Please be mindful of other anglers there are plenty of spots to fish on Hot Creek. The fish (including the bigger ones) seem to be moving into the faster, shallower water so shorten up and keep your drifts real short. The fish are in there and they're hungry.
