Spring Chinook fishing picked up some on the Nestucca, although the good bites have still been somewhat scattered. The estuary and the lower river below Three Rivers have been the best recently, but a decent freshet should be moving more fish upstream and bring fresh fish in.
Summer steelhead should be showing up this time of year, and hopefully the rain helped get them moving as well.
The upper river from Moon Creek to Elk Creek opened to cutthroat trout and steelhead fishing on Saturday, May 22. There probably aren’t many steelhead up there yet, but there should be some cutthroat around.
