According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the tuna and marlin have all but disappeared from the area, but the sailfish are making a showing within two miles of the entrance to Zihuatanejo Bay. The rainbow runners are biting well, along with dorado, around the "White Rocks", (Morro de Potosi). The roosterfish bite has gained momentum in the Valentin River mouth, 15 miles south of Zihuatanejo and there are big schools of bonito and jack cravelle. The roosters are mixing in with the jacks in the deeper water and the live bonito are working well in the Z-wing downriggers. Still, very few boats fishing the area right now, making it more difficult to keep track of the fish.

IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy days with rain in the night, temps from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Overall, excellent, with temps from 87 inshore to 88 offshore and good clarity.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait for the roosterfish, rigged baits for the billfish.

Bait Supply: Very good from the harbor and easily replenished with bonito in the roosterfish area.
