Summer steelhead continues to be slow on the Siletz and the numbers of fish returning this year is low. Low water and warm temperatures are making things tough for salmon/steelhead fishing but there are a few fish around to be caught. Spring Chinook retention closes on July 31. Fishing pressure continues to be very light.
Fall Chinook fishing opens on Aug. 1 on the Siletz River from the tidewater up to Ojalla. Early August can be slow but things start to heat up by the end of August and into early September.
Trout fishing in streams remains open through Oct. 31. Check the regulations for open areas and bait restrictions.
