http://www.fishingvideos.comAaron Barnhill brought Royal Polaris home August 4 after the ultra-limited load trip of five days with 22 anglers.
The trip's top tuna was a 118-pounder caught by Jim Wilson of Garden Grove. It bit a squid under the kite, he said, and added that the boat's gear he used "...was fantastic."
Dan Lee of Honolulu, HI won first place for his 72-pound yellowfin. He also won third place for a 64-pounder. The bigger tuna came on a sardine and a 3/0 ringed Mutu hook on 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound Izorline. He said he used an Avet JX-2 reel and a Calstar 700 H rod.
Gary Iwamura of San Diego won second place for a 71-pound tuna.
"He took me around the boat twice," said Gary. "The fight went 30 minutes. I used my Accurate 870 reel. The makos ate a few fish."
